Kristy Zirngible is a prime example of this service; as a regular volunteer at Boxes of Joy, Kristy continues to move mountains in her community!

Giving Back: Boxes of Joy

Boxes of Joy is an annual Christmas gift ministry that resonates with the true spirit of the season. It’s organized by local schools, parishes, and groups across the United States, with a wonderful mission – to bring joy and hope to children who experience extreme poverty. At Boxes of Joy, participants fill shoeboxes with toys and other gifts, sharing the warmth and happiness of Christmas with those in need. This organization has sent more than 500,000 shoeboxes to children in need, allowing them to participate in the joy and celebrations of the Christmas season. For the last 4 years, Kristy has been involved with this organization as a part of being a Troop Coordinator for a local American Heritage Girls Troop. The group begins fundraising and gathering donations over the summer, packing boxes in the fall.

As a Troop Coordinator, Kristy participates in a lot of community service opportunities, from working at the Tri-City Pantry to sorting clothes at St. Vincent DePaul or Open Door Mission.
