A hospital organization we partnered with needed comprehensive insight into what was happening in their ED. They needed a fast and accurate replacement to an existing KPI tool that met specific requirements:
- Customized to their workflow and system configuration
- Carefully designed to be clear to busy users
- Framed with a seamless timing transition to minimize gaps in data access
- A fully-owned implementation, due to resource constraints on their BI team
Our team of clinical Epic and analytical experts was tasked with aggregating the key performance indicators that leadership needed to properly manage their emergency department and organize them into a scalable analytics solution that would allow users to drive from 30,000 feet to 3 inches with the click of a mouse.
We collaborated with the organization’s SMEs and the business intelligence team to gather the metrics required to run their emergency department and ensure that they were properly standardized to organizational workflow and governmental requirements. These were then built into a logically and elegantly designed application that encouraged users to explore the data for answers to their questions.
The application launched on time, requiring fewer than 20 days to go from whiteboard to production. Very soon after launch the customer was able to find over $500,000 in potential charges that were not being properly triggered or manually entered for billing.
