We were fortunate to have three of our customers join us in our booth at HIMSS this year. They shared some of their objectives and experiences working with us.

In case you couldn’t make it, we highlight each below.

Sandra Ng, University of California – San Francisco:

Sandra discussed the BI program she oversees at UCSF. Their goal is to address the need to increase accessibility and analysis of data, to both enhance clinical performance improvement and progress along the analytics maturity scale. UCSF is excited to increase governance and forecasting as they continue to leverage analytics to improve patient care.

UCSF partners with Prominence to design and implement analytics applications. With more than 15 live applications, they have gained a variety of efficiencies, including:

• Using the Research Data Browser application, a HIPAA-compliant, de-identified cohort development tool, one researcher for one study saved 435 hours of chart abstraction time.
• Using various dashboards that replace previous manual reports, analysts save 20 hours each month getting the information they need.

Dr. Binu Mathew, Mercy, St. Louis:

Dr. Mathew discussed one of Mercy’s most recent analytics partnerships with Prominence, a custom application designed to measure and support clinical documentation improvement initiatives. Improving upon previously static reports and accounting for new metrics, it provides an avenue for tracking the ROI of operational initiatives. The application empowers accountable executives and managers by allowing them to track trends over time, and to compare performance across various groups.

The application has created efficiencies at all levels of clinical documentation improvement, saving time and money:

• Allowed for the discontinuation of expensive third-party reports.
• Improved clinical documentation workflows by creating one view for workers who previously had to use 5 – 6 reports to prioritize daily work.

Maribeth Quinn, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, OH:

Maribeth discussed the partnership between Nationwide and Prominence in her role as the director of the Enterprise Data Warehouse. She described work we did in helping them optimize their QlikView configuration and incorporate best practices, overhaul an analytics application, and strategize for improved reporting policies and procedures. Some specifics about their application development experience:

• In just 6 weeks from project launch to (Epic) go-live, Nationwide, with the support of Prominence, was able to rebuild their QlikView surgical analytics application from looking at Picis to looking at Epic OpTime.
• The Nationwide team felt fully equipped to take over the application after going live, due to effective training and knowledge transfer.
